Aquila iron ore's Tipper is new Brockman CEO

IRJ – January 27 – Australian iron ore junior and Pilbara native Brockman Resources Limited has bagged Aquila Resources iron ore head Russell Tipper as its new chief executive, filling the pivotal role at the top of the company which has been rendered vacant for months as the group sources a worthy individual.

“Russell is a highly-credentialed mining industry executive with a distinguished career to date in delivering iron ore project feasibility studies, rail and port infrastructure solutions and operational management,” Brockman chairman Peter Luk stated.

“He is uniquely qualified to assume leadership of the Brockman team at this critical time in its transition to iron ore producer.”

Mining industry stalwart Tipper will assume the post on March 1. He has been with Aquila as general manager for iron ore for over four years and has also worked with super-major BHP Billiton.

In its Manila iron ore project in the Pilbara, Brockman has a mineral resource of some 1.63 billion tons. While it does not currently have a rail route from the project to Port Hedland, it is said to be in talks aimed at crafting a deal with neighbouring major seaborne iron ore producer Fortescue Metals Group.
