BP’s crunch day is names July 27 for oil slick clean up

IRJ July 8 - Today British Petroleum has announced that July 27 will be deadline day as it continues to clean up the mass oil slick from its Deepwater Horizon rig in the Gulf of Mexico. At just 19 days away and with the threat of the hurricane season looming heavily overcastting this plan, Bob Dudley, heading up BP’s Gulf Coast clean up division, says that the date is the “perfect case.”

"In a perfect world with no interruptions, it's possible to be ready to stop the well between 20 July and 27 July," he continues.

Dudley also says that the hurricane season does make achieving this look “unlikely” as the company continues to drill two relief wells for pumping in product to seal the leak.
