Britain's energy infrastructure faces soaring cost and potential power cuts
IRJ July 12 - According to the British manufacturing organization EEF, Britain faces soaring cost bills and potential power cuts unless major changes are made within the country’s energy infrastructure.
The U.K. could face energy problems as early as 2015 if the government does not take proper action on its energy policy to ensure competitiveness and security, according to EEF.
An Energy Action Plan has been composed by the EEF, highlighting the need for up to $200 billion pounds in British investment in order to meet the necessary energy safety and requirements for the consumer. Investment is needed for infrastructure, while the reliance on imported energy ideally needs to be reduced. There also needs to be a greater emphasize on developing and utilizing renewable energy resources.
