The International Resource Journal: Greenpeace argues for renewable energy in EU Greenpeace argues for renewable energy in EU ================================================================================ Resource News on 13 July, 2010 08:18:00 IRJ July 13 - According to a report published by Greenpeace International, the European Union could reduce carbon emissions by up to 95 per cent compared to 1990 levels if the region willingly embraces renewable energy sources like wind turbines and solar panels. The report also states that the EU could obtain up to 92 per cent of all energy requirements through renewable sources by 2050. “This study shows that investing in green energy will nudge up the cost of electricity in the short to medium term. But it will save trillions of Euros in fuel costs alone by 2030 and represents an immediate investment in jobs and energy security,” said a Greenpeace spokesperson.
