Iran stops oil sales to British and French companies
IRJ - February 20 - Iran has stopped selling oil to British and French companies, the country’s oil ministry has revealed. According to Reuters, the decision was made as a retaliatory measure against fresh European Union (EU) sanctions.
"Exporting crude to British and French companies has been stopped; we will sell our oil to new customers”, said Iranian oil ministry spokesperson, Alireza Nikad.
Citing disputes over the purpose of the Iranian nuclear programme, the EU announced its decision to stop importing crude oil from Iran as of July 1, 2012. Iran denies its programme is aimed at uranium enrichment to enhance warfare capabilites.
