Massey board faces lawsuit from shareholders

IRJ April 28 - Massey Energy, whose Upper Big Branch mine tragedy in West Virginia, USA, has caused a media frenzy over the past couple of weeks when 29 people died, faces a lawsuit today.

A number of the company’s shareholders plan to sue the board of directors in a civil case assembled and brought by the New Jersey Building Laborers Pension Fund.  They are seeking damages, further mine inspections and the removal of Donald Blankenship, Massey’s CEO and Chairman.
